Philip Maher Obituary

MAHER, Philip Earl
On August 31, 2005, at age 61, Phil embarked upon life's final journey after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Although his will never wavered, his body finally succumbed. As we celebrate Phil's life we remember and honor his patient and unconditional love for his family and generous spirit toward his friends. He was born Feb. 17, 1944, in Muskogee, OK. He was employed in the automotive rebuilding industry for 42 years. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 41 years, Patty, his devoted children, Philip Maher Jr. of Diamond Springs and Chrissy (Curtis) Rizzuto of El Dorado. He was the cherished PaPa and "fixer of all things" to Kevin, Kassie, and Katelyn Maher and Laci and Aleah Rizzuto. Also survived by his beloved sisters, Betty (Bob) George of Fresno and Margaret Schembri of Glendale. Per his request there will be no services. If you would like to make a remembrance, please do so to the American Cancer Society or Kaiser Hospice. Arrangements are by Memory Chapel and private interment is at Westwood Hills Memorial Park in Placerville. May your new journey bring you peace.

I've had the privilege of knowing Phil for many years. As a co-worker at A.I.M. we've had many conversations about our homes (property). Since I live in Placerville on acreage, we had the opportunity to share property war stories, like how to defeat mass quantities of weeds, and weapons of choice (riding mowers and roundup). Fencing, fire breaks, deer and other wild life, etc. I really enjoyed Phil's humor and light hearted attitude. God's lucky to have him now, for we sure enjoyed him while he was here. I can just picture St. Peter having a good chuckle with him right now.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. There is nothing that can be said to lessen the pain at a time like this, but I wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
