Ralph Veril Obituary

VERIL, RALPH HOWARD
Of Chico, passed away on February 5, 2002, age 77. Ralph was born December 30, 1924 to Omer and Leona Howard in Sacramento, Ca. In 1965, he married Peggy Mullen in Reno, Nv. He is survived by wife, Peggy of Chico; his daughters Judy Howard of Sacramento, Ginger Howard of Artois, Audra Howard of Chico, and Kathy Jessee of Chico; two sons, Rusty Cooper of Chico and Scott Cooper of Orland; one brother, Everett Howard of Yuba City; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Ralph was raised in Meridian, and as a young man worked in the rice and trucking industries. At age 17, he enlisted in the Navy, for whom he served in the Pacific during WWII. He went to work for the Marysville Meat Co. in 1956, then for Chico Meat & Chico Dress Meat in 1958. In 1975 he started Veril's Country Meats. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #218, and was active with the Bonanza Riders. He enjoyed fishing, family camping, and bird hunting. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM Friday at the Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway in Chico, and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico. Burial will be at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Butte County Sheriff's Mounted Posse, in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
