Robert HATCH Obituary

HATCH, Robert R. 'Bob'
June 16, 1926 - May 27, 2012
Robert Ransom Hatch, devoted & beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 27, 2012.

Bob is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Frances (Fran) Glasgow Hatch; and by his three daughters, Candi Stiles (Roger), Lisa McCart (Kevin), and Heidi Turpen (Michael); grandsons, Jason (Andrea) Stiles, Justin (Ashley) Stiles, Caleb Schultz and Tyler Poppinga; great-grandchildren, Jordan Stiles, Colton Stiles and Oliver Stiles; and sister, Beth Herbert of Brigham City, Utah.

Bob Hatch was born in Provo, Utah and graduated from the University of Utah in 1951. After serving in the U.S. Air Force for two years, he married Fran and they moved to Sacramento where they raised their three daughters.

His illustrious career in the pharmaceutical industry lasted for over 36 years, beginning in sales with Wyeth Laboratories. Through hard work, charm, and a positive attitude, it wasn't long before Bob served as District Manager. Bob's management style was so motivating that he was called upon for guidance nationwide even after he retired in 1989.

Following retirement, Bob & Fran moved to Rancho Mirage for ten years where they enjoyed meeting new friends. Bob enjoyed playing tennis at Arden Hills, golfing in Rancho Mirage, Graeagle and Del Paso Country Club.

In addition to his affiliation with the Sacramento Children's Home Guild, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the Alzheimer's Association, perhaps Bob's favorite pastime was singing with and being a member of a barbershop quartet.

We welcome friends to join the family for a Celebration of Life at Carmichael Presbyterian Church, 5645 Marconi Ave., Carmichael, CA on Saturday, June 9 at 3pm.

What a wonderful exuberant, kind, compassionate, and gentle soul. I have had the honor of helping his daughter bring together pictures of his life and his spirit truly touched me. He lives on in the hearts and actions of his children and grandchildren. A life well lived!

My condolences go out to the Hatch Family for your loss. My Parents, Chalmers Ephriam West JR. and Colleen (Nelson) West were friends of Robert & Fran. I remember back in the early 1960's, when my Family went camping near Sierra City, CA, we drove over to Graeagle to visit them at their wonderful cabin there. We ended up having dinner with them, and then they were so gracious because of the late hour, they asked us to spend the night there in the living room, which was quite comfortable. That's just the type of people Bob and Fran are-Welcoming and thoughtful. My parents thought the world of both Bob & Fran. This is just one memory I have other than going to the Hatch home on a few occasions as a young child. My thoughts are with you Fran, Lisa, your Sisters and the entire Family.
