Thomas Denny Obituary

DENNY, THOMAS "TOM" CHRISTOPHER

4 year resident of North Highlands, was killed in a work related accident on Wednesday October 29, 2003. Born in Thousand Oaks, CA on June 26th 1969, Tom grew up in Southern California just outside the city limits of Camarillo. He attended St. Mary Magdalen Grade School, St. Bonaventure High School and graduated from Rio Mesa High School in 1987. Tom also received a diploma from Golden State welding trade school in Oxnard and later studied to be an electrician. Tom was always a dedicated and passionate worker excelling in several trades before becoming an electrician. He worked as a roofer, tree trimmer, automotive painter, welder on offshore oil rigs, and ultimately an electrician beginning in 1994. Tom would usually have several side projects in process at home or elsewhere at any given time. Tom and Cindy were married on January 13, 2000 in Sacramento and made North Highlands their home with Cindy's son Grant. Tom and Cindy had two children together, Christopher and Thomas and Tom took up one more trade fatherhood with his usual intensity. Tom always touched those with whom he came in contact through his outgoing personality and his giving heart. Everywhere he lived his neighbors, coworkers and family members could always count on him for a smile or a joke and to help out in any way he could. Tom will remain forever in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Edward and his mother Peggy Theresa. Tom is survived by his wife of nearly 4 years, Cynthia Lou Denny, sons Grant Lee Sly, Christopher James, and Thomas Anthony; father-in-law Jim Lee Sly and his wife Linda, brother-in-law Jim C. Sly and his wife Lori; his father Arthur A. Denny and wife Stella, brother Arthur Joseph and his wife Robbie, niece Kristine Marsh and her husband Jason, sister Mary Elizabeth Hall and her husband Dean, brother David Kevin; uncle Thomas E. Merritt; aunt Rose Merritt, and her children Carmela, Lorenzo, Charles, and Joseph. His family wishes to express their special appreciation and thanks for the sincere efforts and concern shown by his co-workers, the paramedics and the ER staff at UC Davis Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at Sacramento Memorial Lawn Mortuary, 6100 Stockton Blvd. at 1:00 p.m. on Monday November 3rd. There will be a wake following the service at 6100 Merry Lane in Carmichael. There will also be a funeral mass celebrated in Southern California, and he will be laid to rest at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo on Saturday, November 8th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made for Tom's wife and children through Rex Moore Electrical Contractors & Engineers, c/o Tom Denny memorial fund.

Cindy,

My prayers are with you, your boys and the family. Take comfort in your family and friends who are there for you in your time of need. You are not alone in this. Warm yourself with Tom's memories of his smile and good heart that he had and know that he is watching down on you and the boys from above. They will forever have a daddy angel looking out for them.

Our prayers are with Cindy and the boys. Tom will always be known as "junior" as he called me "Pappy". The last time we saw him was in July and I'll never forget the smile on his face as he rode wave runners on Lake Coeur d'Alene. We will miss him greatly.

To Tom's family and friends:

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this painful time. Tom stood for so much, gave so much, and asked for so little in return. His life of caring and giving offers us a model to follow. May God bless you.
