ROBERTSON, William Frank
06/29/1917 - 06/11/2006
Passed away in Sacramento on June 11, 2006. Survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years Shirley, son Mark, and son Michael and his wife Kerry. Grandchildren Dan, Melissa, Haydn, Randall, Christopher, Payton, and Alexus. Also survived by his sisters Margaret and Helen. Born and raised in Sacramento, Bill attended Elementary School in North Sacramento, and graduated from Grant High School in 1936. He served with the U.S. Navys 91st Seabees in Milne Bay, New Guinea & the Philippines from 1943 to 1945, and U.S. Navy Seabee reserves in Sacramento, from 1946 to 1970. Bill worked 39 years for Grant Unified School District ( 27 years in transportation & 12 Years in Maintenance). Bill played 4 years of basketball and baseball and some football. He played winter league baseball for team Summer Twilight in Placer-Nevada and Sacramento Counties, for a total of 33 years. He was a manager and coach for town and country little league. He was inducted into LaSalle baseball hall of fame on April 10, 1992. Bill was also a member of the over-the-hill gang. Visitation will be held Thursday 6/15 and Friday 6/16 from 2-4pm in NORTH SACRAMENTO FUNERAL HOME, 725 El Camino Avenue (at Del Paso Blvd.) and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 6/17 at 11:30 A.M. in the Calvary Cemetery Chapel, 7101 Verner Avenue, Sacramento. In lieau of flowers, donations may be made to the leukemia and Lymphoma society, 4604 Roseville Road, North Highlands, CA 95610 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95817-2215 or the Charity of your choice.
