William WHITTEN Obituary


WHITTEN, Jr., William Thaddis
Of Roseville, died on January 18, 2010. William was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Portageville, Mo. Son of William and Callie (Weaks) Whitten of Flint, Mich. He was a WWII Purple Heart Veteran. He married Vivian (Thompson) Whitten on May 23, 1942. They were married 50 years prior to her death in 1993. He is survived by three children, all of Roseville, Calif., Sharon (Whitten) Garsee, William R. Whitten and wife Debbie, Brenda (Whitten) Murata and husband Craig and his life partner of 17 years, Wilma Epperle, grandchildren Tiffany Latino and husband Tony, Michael Garsee and wife Lisa, Timothy Cooper and wife Jennifer, Scott Cooper and wife Danette, William David Whitten and great grandchildren; Brianna, Daniel, Hailey, Taylor, Austin, Alyssa, Timothy Jr. and James. Work was a passion for William who had successful careers as District Manager for the Ray O Vac Co. and Wickland Oil Co. He co-founded The Bird Shop in Sacramento with daughter Sharon. He was a loyal S.F. 49ers fan and enjoyed dancing. After meeting Wilma they traveled extensively, dividing time between Rosevillle, Donner Lake and Mesa, Ariz. Memorial service will be held at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Ln., Fair Oaks, Calif., on Sunday Feb. 7, 2010, at 12:00 Noon.

To all of Bill's family and Wilma...

So sad to hear the news about Bill passing away. I knew him for quite a few years with Wilma by his side! I used to see them at the cabin on Donner Lake and also in Mesa, AZ. He will be missed! He was quite the character!
