Charles Alexander Obituary

Charles David Alexander, 95, of China Grove, passed away Wednesday morning, September 4, 2024, at his home in China Grove, surround by his care givers who loved him like family.

Born December 21, 1928, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Oscar David and Pearl Sechler Alexander. Mr. Alexander was preceded in by brothers, Harry Lee, and Billy Ray Alexander.

Educated in Rowan County schools and served in the US Army during the Korean War era. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Landis and was the oldest member of the Landis American Legion Post 146, where he enjoyed attending the monthly meetings, Christmas dinners, monthly hot dogs sales and the yard sale fundraisers while he was able. During Mr. Alexander life he worked in Cannon Mills and spent over 25 years working at the Salisbury WG Bill Hefner Veterans Affairs and Medical Center, but he loved being a farmer the most being outside spending time in God's beautiful nature.

Survivors include his nephew David Alexander (Angela) of Lumberton and great nephew William Alexander, of Fort Liberty formerly known as Fort Bragg and several relatives and many friends. Those who cared for Mr. Alexander quickly became family to him: Martha Fisher, Martha Corriher, Rhonda Wilkerson, Carol Lipe, Kathy Teague, Wanda Watts, Coy Eagle, Wayne Lipe, Slade Hodge, and Lynn Carter.

The family sends thanks to Trellis Supportive Care for assisting Mr. Alexander and the care givers during the last weeks of Mr. Alexander's life.

Arrangements: Visitation is Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 2 pm to 3 pm at First Reformed Church in Landis, with the funeral at 3:15 pm at the church with Rev. David Franks and Rev. Tom Tiechrow officiating ministers. The burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove with Military Rites.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to: Landis American Legion Post 146, 412 N Central Ave, Landis, NC 28088.
