Emily T. Rader

SALISBURY - Emily Jean Towson Rader, 84, of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014, at her home.

Emily was born June 22, 1929, in Salisbury, daughter of the late William V. and Bessie Foust Towson. Emily attended Spencer High School and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell.

Emily's husband John Rader worked and retired from Southern Railway where he transferred with his job from North Carolina to Macon, Ga., from 1964-1986. After retirement, Emily and John moved back home to Salisbury.

In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by three sons, John R. Rader Jr., Robert C. Rader and Michael A. Rader; and siblings William V. Towson Jr. and Virginia Towson.

Emily is survived by her husband of more than 66 years, John Ray Rader Sr., who she married Aug. 23, 1947; son Jeffrey L. Rader and wife Luanne of Macon, Ga.; daughters-in-law Gayle Rader and Rita Rader; sister Alma Lee Bumgarner of Cleveland; grandchildren Lance Rader, Allison Blomquist, Josh Rader, John Rader III, Marlee Rader, Lacey Arrowood, Nicholas Rader and Kent Rader; great-grandchildren Brooke Arrowood, Brenden Arrowood, Braxton Blomquist, Brennen Blomquist, Brayden Blomquist and Chloe Rader.

Service: There will be a Memorial Service Monday, June 2 at 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. John Houghton, Pastor.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday, June 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O Box 743, Salisbury, NC 28144; or Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144.

John, Daddy saw the obituary in the Macon paper. Monday he said he wish he could have gone to the funeral. Hopefully we can plan a trip to Salisbury this fall. It would mean alot if we could make plans for a visit with you when we are there. I would like to get your telephone number and address. You can call daddy's house 478-746-2628 one of the children are always there. Our family will keep your family in our prayers.
