James Benge

James Royal Benge, 71, of Rockwell, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at his home in Rockwell. He was born on Oct. 9, 1944, to the late Robert and Martha Meade Benge in North Wilkesboro. James worked as a Truck Driver for Swing Transport for over 30 years and then for Food lion. He was a member of Safe Harbor Baptist Church of Salisbury. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Lee Elium Benge; son, Bobby Pate; and brothers, Dewey Benge, Ralph Benge and Bobby Benge. James is survived by two sons, Michael Wayne Benge and wife Amy of Salisbury, and Mark Benge and wife Debbie of Rockwell; three granddaughters, Caitlin Benge, Brooke Benge and Shelby Benge; grandson, Mason Benge; brother, Carlos Benge; five sisters, Joyce Jenkins, Lorene Pinnix, Mary Miller, Emma Phillips, and Geneva Reid. Visitation: Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 6-8 p.m., at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell. Service: Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, at 3 p.m., at the Safe Harbor Baptist Church, Salisbury, with Pastor Josh Montgomery, officiating. Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of James may be made to Safe Harbor Baptist Church 270 Dunns Mountain Rd, Salisbury NC 28146.
