Lawrence J. Sackie

SALISBURY - Lawrence Joseph Sackie, 36, 523 N. Ellis St., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at his residence.

Born Oct 3, 1972, in Sanoyea, Bong County, Liberia, he was the son of Garmai Sackie of Liberia and the late Daniel Sackie. He started his education at Gboveh Junior High School in Gbarnga, Bong County, in 1983, staying with his sister, Ms. Esther Enders and her late husband, Mr. Victor Enders.

Mr. Sackie relocated to Ivory Coast due to the civil uprising in Liberia. He completed his secondary education at the United Methodist School in Ivory Coast. He was a sophomore student at the University of Liberia before relocating to the United States.

Mr. Sackie was in the field of Nursing. He was a student at Kirkwood Community College in Iowa before relocating to Salisbury on June 19, 2008.

He was a security officer with Watkins Hut Security assigned at Freightliner. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Salisbury.

Survivors include his wife, Nyamah Karmue Sackie; daughter Laurene Sackie; sons Deron and Daniel Sackie; his mother, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing: Friday, 2-8 p.m. and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. until time of service at Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home.

Service: Saturday, 10 a.m. in Noble and Kelsey's A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel. Minister Chris Townsend, pastor of Central Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
