Lenny Wolfe Obituary

Lenny Wolfe was born on February 3, 1932, in St. Augustine, Florida to Harry and Bess Wolfe. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1955 with a B.S. in Industrial Management. While in Atlanta, he met the love of his life, Gene Shapiro Wolfe. They married in 1954 and upon graduation, Lenny served in the US Air Force for three years including a tour in Korea. Gene and Lenny moved to Salisbury where he sold industrial chemicals to municipalities and healthcare facilities throughout North Carolina for nearly 40 years.

Lenny was an avid collector, a hobby that began with lead soldiers as a child but led to supporting local artists like Bob Timberlake and Tom Clark. When Gene needed a larger table for their growing family, Lenny began a woodworking hobby building furniture for friends and family for over 50 years. Their home is adorned with his craftmanship as are the homes of their children and many friends and businesses in the community. He was an active member of Temple Israel in Salisbury, NC and played an important part in the growth of the temple for decades.

Lenny was predeceased by his parents, his brother Jimmy and sister Ruth. He is survived by his wife, Gene, of almost 70 years, two adult children, Beverly Wolfe Lassiter (John), of Charlotte, and Stephen Neil Wolfe (Luda), of Salisbury, grandsons, Ben Lassiter (Anna) of Charlotte, Alex Lassiter (Anne) of Raleigh, and Nikolas Wolfe of Salisbury, 5 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held for the family.

Donations may be made in memory of Lenny Wolfe to the Glen Kiser Hospice House 1229 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144 or the ASPCA (https://secure.aspca.org/donate) as he adored and loved dogs of all breeds.

So sorry to hear this news. Years ago before relocating to Hilton Head (still in my single days) I knew Lenny and his wife and always enjoyed stopping and chatting with both of them. It seems we all had an infinity for Eddie's Deli as it seemed our oaths would often cross there back in the 60s. My deepest sympathy to his family; Lenny was one of the good guys and will be missed by many.
