Robert Lee Obituary

Robert Lee, 52, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, Dec. 25, 2021 at Novant Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. He was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Oct. 14, 1969 to the late Robert and Florence Bukowiecki and lived most of his life in the Bronx and update New York before moving to Salisbury in October 2009. Robert had a great sense of humor, loved life and hated being idle, even while on vacation. He was a true gentleman to everyone he met and he treasured the people who he worked with, especially his friend, Jason Conte. His passion for unloading trucks was balanced by his passion for the finer things in life: the New York Yankees, wrestling, eating out with his sister Jeannie, dance music, Pepsi, chocolate bars and driving his Toyota Camry. Robert especially loved the outdoors and spending time in the country, keeping tabs on the weather, remembering the very first snowfall in Salisbury and watching the days grow longer as the winter months faded away. He would get really excited whenever he heard the crickets come out during the spring and he could look forward to the sunny days of summer. Robert also loved superheroes and spent hours fussing over his Batman collection. His coworkers at Lowe's nicknamed him Batman for his devotion to his favorite superhero. Their nickname for Robert spoke of a deeper truth because under his mild and unassuming nature was a man of great virtue. Before coming to work for the Lowe's Home Improvement store in Salisbury, Robert also attended and graduated from the program S.O.A.R. at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. S.O.A.R. stands for Skills, Opportunity, Awareness, and Readiness and is a community college program designed specifially for adults with intellectual disabilities. Previously, he worked for the The Gap Distribution Center and Walmart in Fishkill and then for the Walmart in Salisbury. Robert is survived by his three sisters, Jeannie Roberts of Salisbury, Helen Rivera (James) of Kendall Park, N.J., and Joan Llenin (Manny) of Suffern, N.Y.; plus several nieces and nephews. Arrangements: There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held for Robert at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 375 Lumen Christi Lane, Salisbury, NC 28147 on Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. with Father John Eckert officiating. Internment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Novant Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, 1229 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144. Carolina Cremation is assisting Robert Lee's family. Online condolences may be made at www.carolinacremation.com.

I came across all of these lovely, kind words about my brother, Robert, and my heart just soared. I miss him so much too, and sometimes wish he could come down from heaven to let me know he's okay. He was definitely my favorite shotgun rider, and will be a forever fan of the NY Yankees, Batman and Pepsi soda. Until we meet again, see you on the other side, buddy!

Wow, it's been two years already. Seems like yesterday. Robert was definitely one of a kind and we still talk about what a great guy he was and how much we miss him. I giggle every time I think about how much he loved his Pepsi. He was remarkable and was such a great example for everyone.

Jeannie,
Not a day goes by that Robert aka Batman is not thought of or talked about. We miss him so much at Lowe's. He was such a fun-loving guy and worked like a pack mule. I miss everything about him. He was a bright light in a dim world. I wish I could have been there in Heaven to greet him. He would have wanted a Pepsi! Love and memories, Laura

I worked with nRobert at Lowes helping unloading trucks. Robert was a very hard worker, loved to unload trucks. I would call him batman and he called me Robin. I hurt for your loss, I know Lowes will miss his smile and his way of making you laugh.
I can be certain Robert is with our Lord and Savour. I wish I was still working with Robert, but I know he is in amuch better place.God bless your family and also so many friends Robert had.Batman forever.

Jeannie,
You were the best sister in the world to Batman, we loved him so much and life at Lowe's will never be the same without his spirit. He was such a great example to us all for how to live life. Love to you Jeannie and prayers for the days ahead without your sidekick. Rest assured that he will welcome you to heaven when it's your time.
