Cheryl Stark Obituary

1949 ~ 2016
Our dear and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Cheryl Sheppard Stark returned to the loving arms of her father in heaven December 8, 2016 after a valiant fight with cancer.
Cheryl was born Feb 8, 1949 as the oldest child of LaVae Nichol and Gene Sheppard. She was later sealed to her dad, Lynden Joseph Cook and mom, LaVae Nichol. She married her sweetheart Richard C Stark on December 8, 1966. Together they had 8 children, 17 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and have enjoyed 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Cheryl was dedicated to her family and to her church. She has served in many church callings in Relief Society, Primary and the Temple, but her favorite calling was being a mother and a grandmother. She also worked at Lone Peak Elementary School in Sandy for 25 years. She was a second mother to half of the neighborhood and most of her children's friends.
She was preceded in death by her little sister Jolyn Cook, her dad, Joseph Cook, and her walking companion Wickett. She is survived by her mother, LaVae Cook, sister, Kaye Stone, brothers, Keith Cook and Charles Sheppard, husband, Richard Stark, children, Troy (Tiffany) Stark, Dru Stark, Brett (Carrie) Stark, Ryan (Andrea) Stark, Bryce (Cassie) Stark, Taralyn (James) McConnehey, Tawna (Mike) Thompson, Devon (Brooke) Stark, 17 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
As a family, we are grateful for every moment that we have had with her, and we would like to thank our many family and friends for the outpouring of love and help.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 12 pm at the Crescent 21st ward, 11570 S. Wasatch Blvd., Sandy. Viewings will be held Sunday, December 11 from 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) and on Monday, December 12 from 10:30-11:30 at the ward house. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Huntsman Cancer Center.

Having just heard of Cheryl's passing we were greatly saddened.
She was a wonderful person and indeed a great neighbor. As stated she was a second mother to oh so many of the neighboring kids, ours definitely included.
Richard and family (still kids to us) know that our hearts are with you.
