Claudia Bach Obituary
Claudia May Bach
1948 - 2025
Salt Lake City, UT-It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claudia May Bach at the age of 76. Claudia courageously endured the debilitating effects of Alzheimer's Disease and was able to remain at home until she passed away on March 31, 2025.
Claudia was Born on May 14, 1948 in Hollywood, CA to George and Peggy Bach, and preceded in death by her parents and her three siblings, Roger, Stephanie, and Felicity. She is survived by her husband Steve Harrison and her sons Apollo Bach-Harrison and Paris Bach-Harrison his wife Michelle, and Grandchildren Cooper Bach-Harrison and Caylin Bach-Harrison.
Claudia was truly a unique individual. She was honest, straightforward, had a great sense of humor, and no one ever doubted where they stood with Claudia. She was especially good with young people. She had the rare ability to set firm limits on behavior and still let her love and caring shine through. She always enjoyed working with young children and almost completed a degree in Early Childhood Education. She had college credits from California, Alaska, and Utah. It seemed that the family would move just before she could finish her degree. In Salt Lake City where her boys spent most of their youth, she often would have a car full of kids headed for the park, zoo, museum, or other adventure. Her nieces and nephews still remember their great adventures when they went to "Camp Claudia" during the summers.
Claudia was the truest and most dedicated friend a person could ask for. She was an advocate for her friends and would be the one to help negotiate anything from a hospital stay to a trip abroad. She spent her early years in Hollywood where she attended Hollywood High School and made several lifelong friends. Everywhere Claudia lived she made lifelong friends. Friends came from places as different as Hollywood, CA; Nome, Seward, and Anchorage Alaska; and Salt Lake City. If one of her friends was in need, they could count on unlimited support from Claudia. She had an ability to make people feel at home and we often had friends and family visit, especially for the holidays. Her New Years Eve parties were enjoyed by friends and family and all ages were welcome and had a great time.
She loved to travel and saw most of the world with her mother, family, and friends. She especially enjoyed her relationship with her mother, Peggy. They thoroughly enjoyed each other's company as they traveled the world. One of her favorite destinations was Paris, France. It seemed that where ever she traveled, Paris would always be included on the itinerary. She arranged trips for the family and always made sure that there was and educational component to the trip. We never missed the famous sights, museums, and local adventures. One of the quick, close-to-home trips was to Las Vegas where she loved to gamble with friends and family.
Claudia was an avid reader and occasionally would begin a book only to realize that she had already read it. She enjoyed books on most topics, but historical novels and murder mysteries were some of her favorites. She had a very beautiful garden where something was blooming from the time the snow melted in the spring until it returned in the fall. However, being in Emigration Canyon meant there was a constant battle between Claudia and the deer, squirrels and other animals that wanted to eat the flowers and bushes. The animals often won, but she countered by planting new bulbs, plants, and bushes every year.
Claudia took her role as a stay-at-home mom very seriously. She was a great wife and mother and took great care of Steve, Paris, and Apollo, and we all felt her unconditional love. Meals were thoughtfully prepared and we always had dinner together sharing our daily experiences and thoughts. She shopped for all of us and made sure we had the latest, tasteful outfits. She enjoyed seeing others have a good time and facilitated many adventures for the family.
We would like to thank the Good Shepherd Hospice staff and Pua Vaitai and her team who helped take care of Claudia and allowed her to stay at home. Alzheimer's is a horrible disease that slowly takes the essence of a person until very little of the original person remains. Through it all, Claudia managed to hold on to her unique way of dealing with people and was loved by those who cared for her.
A memorial celebration of Claudia's life will be held at our home in Emigration Canyon this summer where her ashes will be placed with those of her mother, other family members, and pets in our Memory Grove.
