Fay Ellison Obituary

1936 ~ 2017
Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend left us early December 14, 2017. Fay was born February 22, 1936. She earned a M.S. degree in Educational Psychology. During her years at Granite School District, she helped many children succeed who, without her help, may not have had the opportunity. Fay enjoyed reading science publications, spending time in nature and around water. She especially loved gardening, earning her the nick name, "Farmer Fay". She valued and supported her Church: Salt Lake Center for Spiritual Living, and she was also a strong advocate for the "right to die" and supported Oregon's "Compassion and Choices" non-profit organization. Fay had a passion for beauty. Not only did she create beauty with her painting, wheel thrown pottery, and stained glass, but she loved the magnificence of nature with its streams and mountains. There was seldom detail of a plant or flower that missed her attention. We began losing the Fay that we knew several years ago after dementia began. Despite the dementia, Fay recognized and loved her family, maintained her sweet and loving disposition and continued to enjoy plants and flowers. Fay's family would like to give thanks to all at Silverado Senior Living and Silverado Hospice for the happiness they gave to Fay and the peace and comfort they brought to her family. Fay was preceded in death by her daughter Julie M. Ellison and is survived by daughter, Cristan L. Ellison, and two grandsons, Stuart Hayashi and Robert Cheuvront. She is also survived by three siblings, Deon S. Kane, Janet Satterfield and twin brother, Ray (Carol) Satterfield. Fay donated her body to the University of Utah, School of Medicine, Body Donor Program. Services will be held at the Salt Lake Center for Spiritual Living (332 Bugatti Ave.) on Thursday, January 4th. Greeting/Social at 4:30 pm, Service at 5:00pm followed by a light dinner. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association or to the charity of your choice.

Dear Ellison Family. As a Social Worker with Granite, Fay was my favorite partner. I not only enjoyed working with her, but also enjoyed many a Friday after work sitting on her balcony overlooking the creek and sharing wine and heavy philosophical discussions. My heart goes out to you in this difficult time. Bless you Fay.
