I have had the pleasure of knowing Jim (Swift Eagle") Hogle since I was a small child. I was very saddened to hear that he left us. Jim was a "Class Act" if there ever was one. It was always fun to talk to Jim at the Zoo. My deepest condolences to Theda, Patrick, and all the Hogle family. Many fun memories I have with all the Hogles. The quick wit and wicked sense of humor runs in the family. I know that Holly and "Hoge" will be hanging out on the other side. He will be missed.

I didn't know him personally, but clearly he was a big part of the Hogle Zoo. I love the Hogle Zoo. My mom took us kids there once a year. I remember laughing my head off at the foot poking up from the quicksand. I remember when penguins could be seen down below the ramp, behind a large glass window. Of course there is still the iconic lion drinking fountain. In my 50s now and living in Denver, I still visit the Hogle Zoo whenever I am in Salt Lake. Mr. Hogle left a remarkable legacy for those of us who grew up in Salt Lake. I thank him for his work and dedication.
