SHIRLEY SIMPER Obituary

Shirley Fern Heslop Simper 1927 ~ 2011 BRIGHAM CITY - We celebrate the life of Shirley Fern Heslop Simper who died peacefully at her home, in the presence of her children, on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Mom instructed that this be "short and sweet" and so it shall be.The only child of Charles and Roxey Heslop, born October 2, 1927, she grew up on a small farm in Plain City and was the pride of a very loving and extended family. She graduated from Weber High and attended Utah State University. She married James T. Simper in the Salt Lake City Temple on Aug. 27, 1947 and was the backbone of his efforts through Utah State University, Kansas State University, private veterinary practice in Brigham City, and as his constant companion while serving as Utah District Governor of Rotary. Shirley also served as president of the Auxiliary of the Utah Veterinary Association. It was no secret that Shirley was the main ingredient in all success that Jim achieved. She also blossomed in her 14-year career in Human Resources at Thiokol. To know Shirley is to love and respect her - a non-assuming, classy lady. Active in book clubs, bridge clubs, quilting club, and the L.D.S. Church, she will be missed by a multitude of friends who always seem to light up at the mere mention of her, with the punctuation, "We just love Shirley!" Her children, Craig (Teri), Shirlene Leavitt, and Steve (Joanna), 15 grandchildren, and 22 great-grand-children will miss her and treasure the wonderful example she set for us with her life. Her sensitive, wonderful soul joins husband, Jim, son, Bruce, and grandson, Jonathan. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Brigham City 17th Ward, 139 East 300 North. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 27 at 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT and on Mon. 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery. Email condolences to the family at www.gilliesfuneralchapel.com.

Dear Craig, Shirlene, Steve, and families - Please know that our thoughts, prayers, and love are with you at this time. Aunt Shirley will be missed by so many people. She was always the ultimate "lady", and gracious hostess. I have some wonderful memories of growing up around her. I' dont know how she kept all of you in line, but she did!
We love you, and are thinking about you... Lora Lee, Jolene and families
