Daniel Otley Obituary

Daniel Ray Otley, born on November 5, 1962, joyfully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 2, 2008. The beloved son of Richard and Arlene, he is survived by his brothers, Rick and John and sisters in-law, Novetta and Debbie. His loving nieces and nephews are John Jr., Daniel, Crystal, Bethany, Ashley, Sarah, and Alyssa. His great nephew, Zachary, and great nieces, Elizabeth, Madison, and Katlyn, will also miss his special soul. Among his innumerable friends who will miss him are his best buddies, Robert Hatfield, Fred Harris and Tommy Mecke. Danny fought a courageous and brave battle against muscular dystrophy from his childhood and throughout his adult life. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. His humble, gentle nature was evident throughout every moment of his life. His friendly and outgoing spirit enabled him to form many friendships. No one was a stranger to Dan. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Never one to dwell on his own personal triumphs, he delighted in the accomplishments of his friends and family and was a wonderful encouragement to all who knew him. Daniel also loved serving his Lord as an Elder at the New Vision Family Worship Center, often working with the youth and single adults. His devotion to his Heavenly Father was evident in everything he did. Daniel's family wishes to express their gratefulness to his doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and all who so faithfully helped in his care. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Castle Ridge Mortuary, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 11:00 am at New Vision Family Worship Center. The Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 8610 Broadway, Ste. 200, San Antonio, Texas, 78217 or the New Vision Family Worship Center, 10050 W. Commerce Street, San Antonio, Texas 78227. We love and miss you Danny. Services under the direction of the Castle Ridge Mortuary.

I ONLY KNEW DANIEL FOR A VERY SHORT TIME, BUT IN THOSE TWO NIGHTS (RN AT METHODIST) I FELT A CLOSENESS HIM AND ADMIRATION FOR HIM. HE WAS SO SWEET AND SO APPRECIATIVE FOR EVERYTHING I DID. HE HAD AN AWESOME SENSE OF HUMOR. MY HEART HAS BEEN BLESSED BY GETTING TWO SHORT NIGHTS WITH SUCH A WONDERFUL MAN. MY HEART GOES OUT TO HIS FAMILY. I COULD TELL THAT YOU WERE ALL SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER AND TO GOD. GOD BLESS YOU ALL IN THE DAYS TO COME. DANIEL IS WITH GOD NOW AND HAS NO MORE LIMITATIONS OR PAIN. DON'T YOU KNOW HE IS RUNNING AND SINGING AND DANCING BEFORE THE LORD!

Dear Daniel Otley family,

Our deepest sympathy in the loss of Daniel. We understand your situation as one of our sons died in 2006 from DMD. (You can see a picture of him at www.ecnrc.org/josef) I'm so glad our sons have been able to live full lives inspite of DMD. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
