He taught English and History to public school students for 4 years in AR and 22 years in San Antonio, TX. He taught English to pilots and officers for Raytheon in Saudi Arabia for 14 years. In retirement he continued to teach part-time. Also, he was a singer, song-writer, guitarist, playwright, and entertainer. David was preceded in death by his parents, James David and Myrtle Kersh, and his precious little 9-year-old daughter, Jamie Lee Kersh. In 1985 the Texas House of Representatives passed a resolution commending David Kersh for his exemplary service to the city and state by writing 2 highly acclaimed musicals, "Chalk" and "Oh Heavenly San Antonio" which promoted the city by musical productions. In 1993 David Kersh was named Regional Teacher of the Year for the San Antonio Region, a prestigious award for energy and dedication on the road to excellence in education. David was loved and revered by his students, family, and friends. He was intelligent, talented, professional, determined, devoted, detailed, kind, sensitive, funny, loving, giving, artistic, productive, considerate, and a true friend.
