Joseph Killins Obituary

"JOEY" KILLINS Joseph Levi Killins, 28, passed away Saturday morning, October 4, 2008 in Austin, Texas. Joey was born November 15, 1979 in Borger to Bob and Debi Killins. Joey was a member of the 10th Mountain Division and honorably served his country from 2000 until 2003 in both Afgahnistan and Kosovo. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Killins in 2004; maternal grandfather, Elmer Munholland; and paternal grandfather J.W. Killins. He is survived by his mother, Debi (Munholland) Killins; 2 sisters, Whitney and Robbie Brown of Smithville, TX, and Amanda and Paul Scott of San Antonio, TX.; nephews, Coltyn, Ethan and Jonas; nieces, Shelby, Isabel, Kylie and Marlee; god- daughter, Maia Reynolds of Watertown, NY; grandmas, Rose Munholland of Fritch and Fern Killins of Stinnett; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Joey leaves behind many loved ones and he will best be remembered for his quick wit, his booming laughter and his ability to rock out on Guitar Hero. To know JoeyÉis to love Joey. He had the uncanny ability to befriend everyone he met. People just wanted to be his friend. Being around Joey meant having a good time, from food fights at Thanksgiving to cartwheels in the front yard. He was never without a smile or a joke. More than just a bald beauty, Joey was a man of honor, integrity, loyalty, tenacity, devotion and just an all around kind person. He was as gentle as he was stubborn and he lived his life to the fullest. The world will be a little less funnyÉwith a little less laughter. I pray that you'll think of him often and smile. Joey, we will forever miss you. Services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Borger with burial at Stinnett Cemetery. Send personal condolences to www.brownfuneraldirectors.net. Arrangements entrusted to BROWN FUNERAL DIRECTORS Borger, TX 79008 (806) 273-7555

I worked with Joe for a very short time, he was wonderful and kind. When I would mess up and send him half across town and he needed to go the other direction he would just laugh. He was a reliable person, as a friend and collegue. I am so very lucky to of had him in m life for a short time. Airtron will miss you, Im sure.

I didn't know Joey, but a picture says a thousand words. I just happen to come across his picture and his expression immediately caught me eye. I read the Joey Killins guest book and I was touched by all the wonderful things that I read. I almost felt as if I knew him. I'm only sorry I didn't. My condolences The Killins family and friends. God Bless You All.

We had the joy of meeting Joey at Sarah and John's in Watertown, NY. It was clear why Joey was so well loved and liked. I don't think we stopped laughing all night.
Our hearts go out to all of Joey's friends and family.

every time joey entered a room it was with a thunderous greeting that dripped with happiness, excitement and love. there were no strangers in joey's presence.

the sincerity with which joey interacted with every person he met was matched only by his jovial and happy nature.

i am better for having known joey, and i think that every person that he touched in his life (joey would enter in a questionable joke here, to be sure...) would agree. there are countless laughs i've laughed, smiles i've smiled, and memories i will remember, fondly, because of this man.

i knew joey for about 4 years and i am so deeply saddened by this loss. my condolences go out to all of the others who knew and loved joey, especially his family.

as he so gently called casey once, we now call him--sweet prince.

heaven has a new space cowboy.

I only knew you for a short time and you always managed to keep me smiling. I will remember you best for your showmanship. I know that you will be that bright star looking down on your family and friend. I can’t wait to look up and see you.

Joey was my second cousin. I'm only ten months older than Joey and even though we didn't live in the same town I have many fond memories of him.

I hadn't seen Joey since I was about twelve, but when I was moving into an apartment complex here in Amarillo I saw his parents (Bob and Debi). They told me that Joey lived right across the way. Of course I walked the 100 feet to go and hang out with my cousin on many occasions before he moved out of the area.

The thing that struck me about Joey is he was such a gracious host, he would give you the shirt of his back if you felt a chill. I also found out that he had become a very grounded and goal oriented person (In comparison with the kinda' geeky kid of my youth).

I always thought I'd see him again and that I'd have more fond memories of him and the happy , great, and fun person he was. All of the cousins are a lot of fun and Joey fit right in, but he always seemed to have his head on a little better than the rest of us. I will always regret not spending more time hangin' out, than we did.
