Lisa Starr Rosenstein, age 53, passed away on May 2, 2021. She was born on September 28, 1967 to David and Arlene Starr, in New York, New York. She became a Texan in 1985 when the Starr family relocated to San Antonio. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a degree in education in 1989.
In 1993, Lisa married Alan Rosenstein. Together, they had two treasured children, Emma and Nathan. She was active in her children's schools, the community, the NY Roadrunners, and her synagogues, Congregation Rodfei Sholom and Congregation Beth El. She became a long-distance runner and took great pride in having completed 27 marathons in the last few years, her all-time favorite being the New York Marathon.
Lisa was tough on the outside with a heart of gold inside. She always thought of others and did her good deeds without fanfare or recognition. She did not believe in "fair-weather" friends – she wanted and fostered only the most genuine, deep, long-lasting friendships.
More than anything in the world, Lisa loved her family. She is survived by her parents, David and Arlene Starr, her husband of nearly 28 years, Alan Rosenstein, her children, Emma and Nathan, her brothers, Matthew Starr and Jonathan (Julie) Starr, her mother-in-law, Bea & and the late Morris Rosenstein, her sisters-in-law Beverly Barshop and Sylvia (Charles) Dauber, her brother-in-law, Stuart Rosenstein, her nieces and nephews, Jacob, Justin, Sophie, Hallie and Harper Starr, Kenneth (Carolyn), Jonathan, and Alex Barshop, and Matthew, Benjamin, and Lauren Dauber, as well as countless relatives and friends across the country. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Agudas Achim Memorial Gardens, 1727 Austin Highway, San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lisa's memory may be made to the San Antonio Road Runners Club or you can donate new running shoes at 7334 Blanco Road, Suite #200.

My family and I enjoyed seeing Lisa run by everyday (often more than once). She would stop and chat while the kids were playing outside. I always enjoyed the conversations. She was a fixture in Deerfield and is already missed.

I am so sorry to hear about this huge loss! As a fellow Deerfield resident and exercise enthusiast, I would see her each morning run past as I worked out in my garage. I took comfort in seeing her. It gave me a little extra push as I did my workout. Prayers for her family. She will never know the inspiration she gave me as I do my early morning workouts.

To the Starr family, my neighbors and fellow members of our Jewish community, my heart goes out to you. I am so shocked and saddened by Lisa’s passing. I will miss running into her and seeing her drive up to her parents home. I always enjoyed her amazing smile, listening to her New York accent, and having catch-up chats with her. I have also always been impressed by her physical fitness and her high-fashion outfits! May her memory be for a blessing.
Warmly, Varda Ratner

We will miss seeing you walk and run by daily. Most of the times several times a day. Your dedication was inspirational. May you rest in eternal peace.
