Richard Ravicz Obituary

July 31, 1923 - November 20, 2018

Richard Lee Ravicz was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 31, 1923. He passed away at his San Antonio, Texas home on November 20, 2018 at age 95. As a child, he spent time in New Mexico, California and France before settling with his family in San Antonio while he was still in grade school.

Ravicz was a graduate of Jefferson High School and The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He volunteered for the US Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. After the war, Ravicz returned to San Antonio, where he assumed ownership of Irving's, an Alamo Plaza women's clothing store founded by his step-father, Irving Frost. Ravicz ran the store for almost 30 years, also opening a branch in Laredo called, La Casa Ganga.

In 1960, Ravicz married Frances "Bobbi" Kallison. They were blissfully wed for 57 years. Ravicz, the ultimate family man, eventually closed both stores to spend more time with his wife and four children.

As his children grew older, he invested in stocks and real estate before becoming a silent partner in J. Adelman Antiques.

He continued that association until his retirement at age 92.

Known for his dry sense of humor, complete devotion to family, self-discipline and strong exercise habits, Ravicz had a message for those who knew him best, "Don't waste the trip." Certainly, he didn't.

He is survived by his wife, Frances "Bobbi" Ravicz; children Elenita, Robi Marisol and Li Ravicz and Mara Hudock. Grandchildren include Marigold, Mathias and Maylina Hudock; Richard and David Costa; Arden and Fia Ravicz.

At Ravicz's request, no services are planned.

I´m so sorry to learn of the news of Mr Ravicz´s passing. I remember him to be a kind and gentle man. I was approached by him many years ago to begin working for his family. We have stories of kindness to tell and he is one of them.

Worked for Mr. Ravicz for about 15 years. I will miss him terribly. Most of all his sense of humor and watching him interact with people. My condolences to all his family.
