Robert Loree Obituary

Robert W. Loree
April 15, 1953 - June 9, 2024
Robert W. Loree (Rob), age 71, of San Antonio, Texas, entered eternal rest on June 9 after a valiant fight with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife, Sharon Loree, and sons, Trevis Robert Loree and Kendall Ellis Loree.

Rob was a devoted husband, father, lawyer, mentor, and golfer who profoundly impacted the lives of so many. He lived life large and on his terms. He said, "I have had a happy life and got to do everything I wanted to."

As he wished, a Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Buckhorn Saloon and Museum, 318 E. Houston St., 78205.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Loree, and mother, Ramona (June) Loree. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Loree; sons Trevis Robert Loree and Kendall Ellis Loree; sister Pam Loree; brothers Jason Loree and Raymond Loree; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was born in New York, NY on April 15, 1953. He obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland and a Juris Doctorate at The University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1978.

Rob spent over four decades as an insurance attorney for first-party policyholders, and his fighting spirit was legendary. Rob was a force of nature in his profession, as he had a brilliant mind and was fearless. More than once, this combination found him changing the application of the law for the good of policyholders statewide.

Rob's vast experience in the field made him an irreplaceable source of knowledge and sounding board for those who worked with or against him. While he pushed and challenged those around him, in the end, he made people better on both sides of the bar. It would be hard to find a lawyer, adjuster, public adjuster, or other insurance professional he came into contact with who doesn't have a good Rob Loree story.

The courtroom may have been his battlefield, but once he stepped outside, Rob's unforgettable and kindhearted nature truly showed. Rob's unique sense of humor was infamous, loud, and relentless. His jokes, stories, Hawaiian shirts, trademark phrases, and old man dance moves brought countless laughs to those who knew and loved him. The passion and joy he brought to all will be sorely missed.

Rob's love of the law was second only to his love for his family. He and his wife, Sharon, had a 40-year journey together, managing their careers, raising their sons, and traveling the world. Rob loved making his BBQ brisket and inviting everyone to the home they built and shared for 25 years. He was especially proud of his sons Trevis (who he had the pleasure of playing golf and practicing law with) and Kendall (whose entrepreneurial spirit reminded him so much of himself as a young man).

"Rest in peace, my love. And please don't tell the camping joke in Heaven! - I will love you forever, Robert Loree, and I will miss your presence, boisterous cackle, conversations, kisses, and warm embrace every day… thank you for a really, really fun ride." Love, Sharon

Rob, I´ll never forget you. Thank you for being my client and friend for 25 years, for supporting me in my court reporting business when I first opened, for the many lunches and happy hours. I loved you for cracking me up with your horrible jokes and laughing at mine. I loved it when you´d ask that zinger question in a deposition and then look at me like "Got `em," all nodding your head, and me doing my best to look impartial lol . You were the best of loose cannons, with your opponents always underestimating you-their fatal error. Rest in peace, my old friend. You´ve left a huge gap on the earth.

Rest in peace Rob. I´m so grateful for that one last conversation we had in your hospital room in January. Thank you for the opportunity to work for you and the countless Firehouse Sub lunches. Even though I tried to pay every once in a while you always beat me to the register. Heaven is a better place because of you! You will be missed. Doris Knepp

We will always remember your crazy sense of humor, your big bear hugs, your big grins and booming laughter, how wonderful you were to your mother-in-law, your legendary barbeques and your larger than life personality. We will miss you at every family gathering and we will miss hearing Sharon's phone ring to the song "Big Daddy".
