Gaspare Apparito Obituary

APPARITO, GASPARE Gaspare Apparito was born and raised in Aspra, Italy on February 23, 1923. While there he was involved in the Fishing Industry until he was called to serve in World War II. After the war he was able to come to the United States and married his hometown sweetheart of 15 years, Ester Brunetto. He was a commercial fisherman for seven years until the birth of his children when he got into the restaurant business with his brother-in-law and best friend Stefano Brunetto. They opened the original Mona Lisa Restaurant on Broadway, Downtown. In the years that followed they moved and expanded the restaurant to their current locations in Little Italy and Allied Gardens. In retirement he kept busy baking bread and cookies for the family and playing bocce Ball and cards with his friends. He is survived by his wife Ester of 54 years. His son Michael (Jennifer), daughters Mary Ann Fowler (Chuck) and Dorothy McIntosh (Jim). Grandchildren, Ester Bagnasco, Michele and Alisa Apparito, Michael, Daniel and Gaspare McIntosh. He was brother to Joe Apparito of San Diego, Rosalia Alpi (deceased) and Anna Lalicata (deceased) as well as many close brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was a kind, loving man who will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 25, 5-8 p.m. at Featheringill College Center Chapel, 6322 El Cajon Blvd., SD, Ca 92115. Rosary and Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 26, at 9 a.m. Entombment following at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
