Joan Bubbles Widmer

WIDMER, JOAN Bubbles Joan Browning, her legal name at birth, passed away on September 4th, from cancer. Ben Widmer her surviving husband says, "She is no longer with us physically, but spiritually, her bubbly smile and manner will be with us forever." She is also survived by her three sons, James, Harrison, and Dean Watts and their families and Ben's children Debby, Greg, Cathy and David and their families. Joan was a very generous individual. She won the Community Service Award for outstanding Voluntary Accomplishment in her community from the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution in 2009. Joan was born in Cleveland, Ohio November 13, 1929. She graduated from Hathaway Brown School. She also attended Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. She was married to the late Greg Watts who passed away in 1980. Joan received her Bachelor's Degree from San Diego State and her Master's from Western Oregon University and was a special education teacher. In 1994, she married Ben Widmer in Tucson, AZ. They lived in La Costa Glen in North County San Diego for the past seven years. Services are Friday, September 11, 2009, at 2 p.m. at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 334 14th Street, Del Mar, CA. Interment will be at Rest Lawn Memory Gardens in Salem, Oregon.
