JOYCE JIMENEZ Obituary

JIMENEZ, JOYCE MARJORIE Joyce Jimenez died peacefully, surrounded by her family on September 22, 2011, after a sudden illness. Although gone from this earth, Joyce's vibrant spirit and love of life will be her legacy. She now joins her heavenly Father and the family members who preceded her. Joyce was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 10,1932. Chosen "Best Dressed" in high school, she remained known for her elegant style and charisma. After moving to California in 1959, Joyce met her husband Gilbert Jimenez during a night out dancing. Together, Joyce and Gil danced through life, raising three children and collecting many close friends. They moved to San Marcos in 1991. Joyce loved Elvis, dancing, dogs, hummingbirds, butterflies and chocolate. She was an expert in Japanese landscaping and design. But her greatest love was family. Joyce is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gil; daughters, Leah Davis (Gill) and Nina Jimenez Taylor (Byron); son, Drew Jimenez (Inger); grandchildren, Drew Davis (Angelique), Brendan Davis (Melina), Danae and Nicole Davis; and great-grandchildren, Mia and Drew J. Davis. Memorial Service October 2, at 1 p.m., Meadowlark Community Church, San Marcos, CA. The family wishes to thank UCSD Medical Center and SD Hospice for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce's memory to San Diego Hospice (sdhospice.org).
