Lawrence F. Boyd

BOYD, LAWRENCE F. 1937 to 2009 Longtime San Diego resident, Lawrence F. Boyd, an engaging man whose flair for life was apparent in his dapper dress, athletic endeavors, and spontaneous exuberance, died quietly in Eureka, CA, on March 8, 2009. He was 71. Mr. Boyd was born in Glendale, CA in 1937, grew up in Burbank and came to Imperial Beach in 1954 when his family moved here. Larry arrived just in time to become a star player on the Mar Vista Mariners basketball team, guiding them to the Metro League title in his junior year. He also enjoyed a successful senior year when the Mariners joined the Avocado League. Larry followed his inquiring mind in many directions over the course of his life. He attended San Diego State University and San Francisco State University before focusing on a long career in real estate and property management. In addition to his profession, Mr. Boyd explored a wide range of philosophies and maintained a lifelong interest in learning, taking classes at Humboldt State until shortly before he died. Mr. Boyd is survived by his mother, Jessie Boyd, his brother, Bill Boyd of Bonita, CA, his sister, Jean Kinsey of Forest Knolls, CA, and his nieces and nephew for whom he held enchanted feelings. Having served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, Larry's ashes will be interred in the Fort Rosecrans Cemetery, joining his father, Larry, Sr., and his brother, Jim, both having preceded him in death. No services are planned.
