Pamela de la Torre Obituary

Pamela de la Torre San Diego Pamela de la Torre passed away peacefully on January 30, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Pamela was the most caring and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She taught us all so much about how to live a loving, purposeful life. Those that knew her well commonly said that she was the strongest person they knew. She survived multiple battles with cancer and persevered through numerous other health and personal challenges with grace and courage. Pamela was devoted to social justice and touched many people in her careers in child development, education, health care and human resources. She was a talented painter and a lover of art and classical music. Pamela is survived by her mother Marlene, brother Leland, daughter Allison, son Peter and granddaughter Madeline. A memorial service will take place this Saturday, February 3, at 11:00 a.m. at La Mesa First United Methodist Church, followed by a celebration at the Brigantine in La Mesa. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider making donations to the American Cancer Society.

I remember Pam often as our paths crossed throughout our children´s lives while at Rolando Elementary, as Girl Scout leaders and Helix High School events. Pamela´s spirit of kindness and level headed thinking lives on in remembering her. Allison and Peter you are in my thoughts.

Blessings, prayers and love surround you all in your celebration of Pamela. She was a joy to work with when she volunteered in my kindergarten class with Allison and Peter as a room mother! We had a joyful time and many wonderful classroom experiences with the students!

Surrounding you and your family and friends with delightful memories of giggles and laughter! I remember her joy of life and smile! Love and hugs surround you all!

First met Pam at Grossmont College CDC where we worked and then we all left to Ascension Lutheran Preschool, where I taught. What a wonderful human. Remembering her smile and her laughter. Surely missed but never forgotten. So sorry for your loss. This is a hard one. Sending light, love and prayers to you all
