I was sad to hear about Mr. Scanlon's passing. I will always remember his humor and quick wit.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Scanlon family. Bob was our neighbor in Penasquitos for many years and we shared many good times together. Bob used to enjoy "street quarterbacking" with the neighborhood kids and his sports knowledge was unsurpassed by anyone. Bob was extremely knowledgeable about many subjects and he knew the Jeopardy answers before the contestants could ring their buzzers. We will miss your humor and great jokes. An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Uncle Bob was my surrogate father, best friend and true Paly --as I called him. It's difficult to imagine the world without him.
Even at 91, he was sharp as ever -- at least when he could hear you. His memory and his competitive nature were second to no one. I regret that I will not be able to be in San Diego for his funeral but will get there soon to pay respects.
Rest in peace, Paly. "Say sandwich"

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Scanlon and had a interesting talk with him about life in WW2, and other times of the world before my time. Having spent a career in the Army myself, I felt somewhat of a bond with him.I only met him once, but it was my pleasure. 1sg G Brooke, USA, retired

If one is to measure the quality of a person's life by the number of people they made smile, chuckle or laugh 'til they cry, then this was the man who broke all records....

I never met Mr. Scanlon in person, but I feel like I have known him for years because of the personal stories his daughter Mary shared with me. Like my father he was one of the greatest generation. He was an inspirational father who valued education and raised his family with faith and strong family values. His children and grandchildren are his living legacy.
God Bless Robert Scanlon and his family. I know he went home to be with his wife.
