Uncle Ron will be greatly missed. His warm smile when we visited was always a nice welcome. I will never forget his fantastic "spaghetti" that he always made with such pride. With sympathy, his nephew, Rob Bowker

While reading the notes from Aunt Marian, Uncle Bob, and several cousins, I realize how scattered families are. It is sad. As the oldest Bowker neice, I remember Uncle Ron's wit and impish grin. He was very special and will be misseed. Love and prayers to Aunt MJ, Steve, and Dave.

My prayers are for God's comfort for Mary and their sons and daughters-in-law. Ron, despite his often " hang loose " demeanor, was a consummate professional. He was mentor to many, a leader in his profession, and a genuine friend.

Ron was Registrar when I began working at UCSD in 1978. It was so much fun during his reign. With his staff, he'd say "Come on in" whenever you needed to talk. He was always casual, engaging, and considered what you were saying which made you feel comfortable and confident. This is what I remember about him and will never forget. And a great sense of humor!

I became part of Ron's UCSD family as a student assistant in 1972. I was immediately in awe of this confident and thoughtful man who often seemed deep in thought. He was sweet, charming, and always ready with a smile. I will miss his wonderful ways forever. He mentored so many and was an outstanding and generous gentleman.

I worked with Ron on the Las Vegas AACRAO meeting in 1987. He lead a wonderful collection of individuals through an important and challenging task. I still think of those days.

I had the honor of meeting Ron one time, in the summer of 2004 soon after becoming UCSD University Registrar. He took several hours of his time to share with me his experiences as UCSD registrar and to offer his support and best wishes. I did not need to spend more time with him to recognize that he was a consummate professional and a genuinely thoughtful human being. I never saw Ron again after that day but the memory of the hours we spent talking remains with me.

I've only briefly met Ron, but know he had to be a terrific guy to pick Mary for his loving wife. She is terrific.

Ron was a close friend to our family for many years and will be greatly missed by all of us. I, Dennis worked with Ron beginning in the early 1960's in Chigago until his retirement from UCSD in 1992. He was a big brother to me with his guidance, generosity and humor.

Ron Bowker was one of the nicest, most
fun persons I have ever met, personally and professionally. I knew
ron when he was admissions officer at UCSD and he was one of the first admissions officers to see the need of
using our non-profit, Career Guidance Foundations' College Catalog Collection. Later he bought Scheduler 25 a computer program from me that greatly advanced class scheduling. I met and attended many
admission and Registrars Conventions with Ron and met Rons' lovely wife mary at
a party at Harry Coopers' home in the
Farm. Ron you will be missed. Not only by your colleagues, but all the friends you made along the way and I
know most of all, by your family. God
bless you and keep you close. your
friend, ron hootman.

Mary and family

It has been very many years that have passed but always I will remember you Mary, Ron and your sons for your kindness to Janina and I. It seems only yesterday. I remember meeting Ron just once through you and thought how fortunate you were to have such a loving and caring husband and father in your life. May Ron rest in peace and our prayers are with you and your family.

I remember Cousin Ron fondly. I remember him helping Mom & Dad (Yvonne & Herb) a lot when they lived in San Diego. Unfortunately, we never got together much, but I am thankful we all were together once, not too many years ago, when they were in Oregon. Bev & I are thinking of Mary, and family. May all the pleasant memories you have of Uncle Ron, help you at this time. Don & Bev Bowker
