John Ferguson Obituary

John ?Ferg? Ferguson passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006, at their home in Los Osos with his loving wife by his side. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at the Morro Bay Presbyterian Church, 485 Piney Way, in Morro Bay. John was born Nov. 10, 1926, in Jerseyville, Ill. John grew up in Wood River, Ill., and two days after he graduated from high school joined the Navy to serve his country during World War II. Following the war, John became the first person in his family to graduate from college. His Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering led to a long and distinguished career with the Fluor Corporation, in which he traveled all over the world. His hobbies were bible study and woodworking, and he built a 6 ft. grandfather clock from scratch. John is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years Shirley; three daughters,Teresa Ferguson, Janet Ferguson and Patti Preston; son-in-law Ernest Scheyhing; step-son Brad Bader and wife Elsa; step-daughter Debbie Tucker; four grandchildren, Rebecca Scheyhing, Aimee Williams, Brynn Harlan and Nicholas Crowley and one great granddaughter Katie Grace Williams. John is preceded in death by his youngest daughter Becky Ferguson, and step-daughter Nancy Crowley McGrath. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, 277 South Street, Suite. R, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, 805 782-8608.
