i conducted my masters' research on the guidetti ranch in the late '70s. joe was my contact person. the cowboy who gave me the gate combination, reminding me every time we met, "don't forget to close the gates!" and letting me know that mother cows did not like dogs or anyone around their calves so to be careful. he loved his land and cattle, you could tell. i have fond memories of those encounters and am grateful for all the time i got to spend on that beautiful ranch. my condolences to his family and friends. -- julie vanderwier

Terry and Family,
Sorry we couldn't be with you today for Joe's services. We have so many wonderful memories of your Dad, your mom, Jan, buck camps, Kiwanis, polenta feeds, family BBQ's and so much more. I am out of state on vacation but I do know, as the Kiwanis Club scholarship chairman, that the Joe and Jan Guidetti scholarship will continue on.

Joe was loved by Chuck and I for many years We both have taken care of him in the past years. He was always smiling no matter how much he was hurting. Chuck and will be missing the events tomorrow due to our work. Joe would call Chuck "Chucky Baby" while he was in Physical Therapy. we will always remember Joe and his family in prayers and thoughts. I'll forever remember the many brandings at the ranch with his amazing BBQ and trying to get me to eat mountain oysters. Joe was a great man who I always looked forward to visiting with.

To: Joe's family:
Many years ago on Mill Street, our families all intertwined. We have been friends forever, and will never forget Joe's kindness to our family over the years. In memory, he will always be there for his family and many friends he leaves behind.
Our deepest sympathies to all.

Having moved to San Luis Obispo in 1971. I became a neighbor of Joe's and soon established a life-long friendship. Joe was so gracious in enabling me to become acquainted in the county, through his many introductions. We spent many days, through the years, doing cattle work for ourselves and our neighbors. Joe was very generous and always there to lend a hand. With my moving to Northern California in 2003, Joe even towed a loaded trailer for me. Since then, our opportunities for involvement have been limited, but I will always consider Joe my dearest and best friend. Joe will surely be missed by all of us who knew him. My thoughts are with his family at this time.

As a youngster, I would be walking home from the bus stop and Joe would be driving the blue (I think)truck with a load of cattle to the ranch. He would stop to give me a ride. I would scramble up to sit in the front seat. We didn't say much, but I appreciated the ride. Also, the day our house caught fire and Joe and John came racing up to help. Saved my Mom and helped to save our property. A true good neighbor. He will be missed!

So sorry to hear about the passing of Joe, He once referred to me as his teenage neighbor. Always had a smile on his face. Always willing to help if it involved a 4-H project. Joe will be missed, there just won't be another one like him.
