Dear Aunty Kay,

This has been such a difficult journey for you. Uncle Walter was such a friend in your marriage as well as a husband. I enjoyed watching your cute exchanges and him watching you socialize with all in the room. He loved to watch the commotion. He would occasionly add his 2 cents when it was time. We usually had such a good giggle then, his humor was perfect. I know you and the boys are feeling a great loss. My prayers are with you always!

Love, Your niece Julie

My dearest Trine, Scott, Don, Doug and John:

Our love and prayers are constantly with you during this time of sorrow for our whole family.

Walter was not just a brother-in-law to me, he was my brother. We were always special friends. When I graduated from High School in 1954 he brought you Kathryn to the ceremony in his fancy new Jaguar. What a sensation he created in the little town of Clarissa. All the girls in town promptly fell in love with this handsome man with the twinkling brown eyes, driving this fabulous car. The guys of course all wanted rides in the car. How many times did he go roaring down the road with those kids. He loved it because he was a people person. I was so proud of both of you Kathryn. Do you also remember our trip to Cavilier, ND to see Beatrice our sister that same year.

What fun we had roaring along with the top down. I thought my hair would forever stand on end after that trip. It seemed I was always a tag along with you two. I loved it when you would take me to "Peggy's BBQ" in Mpls. Now those were some ribs! He was always so kind to me and as I said before, he was my brother. My heart has been sad to have to part with him with the illness he had. We lost him as we knew him quite a while ago, but the final actual loss is painful. I wonder how anyone who does not know JESUS as Lord of their life, can make it.

I feel such comfort in knowing that Walter is indeed, safe in the arms of Jesus. I know this life is not all there is. We will meet him joyfully again, and he will be just as he was before his illness.

Jesus said, "I am the Resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." (These are my favortie words of Jesus!)

We love all of you and our hearts and prayers are with you.

Love your sister Ruth LaFontaine and Brother-in-law Maurice from Bagley, Minnesota
