Dana Hunter Obituary

Dana Hilton Hunter
August 5, 1953 - June 17, 2012
Resident of Watsonville
Dana Hilton Hunter died at his home in Watsonville surrounded by family and friends. Dana lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) on June 17th, 2012.
Dana was born August 5th, 1953 in Ft Lauderdale, Fl. to Toni (Wanda Lou) Hunter and Harold Allen Hunter. His parents then moved to the west coast where his sisters were born. He was the oldest and only brother to sister's Debbie and Diana. The family lived in West Sacramento, Calif. until Dana began the 9th grade. It was then they relocated to Monterey. The rest of his life he spent between the Monterey Bay area and the Los Gatos area.
He was preceded in death by father Harold Allen Hunter and mother Toni Burch. Dana is survived by long time roommate Chuck Haltuch, sisters Deb Eberhardt husband Dave, Diana Moroney and husband Bruce, and nieces/nephews: Kristina Schimtt, Jeremy Eberhardt,, Kory Eberhardt, Julie Eberhardt, John Dronenburg.
A multi-talented individual, Dana worked a variety of jobs throughout the years. An office manager for an auto shop, a jeweler/gemologist, and he ran a catering company. There was very little Dana couldn't do.
Dana was instrumental in the first 5 years of the Give-A-Byte project; a Bay area project to help AIDS, HIV patients and others with disabilities receive donated computers to access the internet for resources and information. His knowledge with computers and his profound desire to help others propelled him into this project.
Throughout Dana's life the most important thing to him was family and friends. He enjoyed fast cars, four-wheeling in his vintage Ford Bronco, loud music, dancing and electronics of any kind. His devotion to his friends and family knew no bounds, and he could always be counted on to help out in emergencies large and small.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the ALS foundation in Dana's name to aide in the research and eventual cure of this disease.

Dana was my first boyfriend in HS. He was my 1st person I really never stopped loving. He would play piano for me at night till I went to sleep would still be playing it in the am. A truly wonderful man. I will always love & miss him. My condolences to Debbie, Diana, Chuck and the rest of the family and those who knew him. "Margrett Fay" aka: Maggie Warmington
