Mia Sanders Obituary

Our zesty girlfriend, Mia Sanders, passed away with her family at her side on Thursday May 6, 2010. Mia was a mother, grandmother, best friend, partner, puppy lover, as well as a lover of microwaved "peeps" Easter bunnies. Mia had a particular interest in bird watching and especially hummingbirds.

Her spectacular penetrating blue eyes, appreciation for a beautiful sunset or flower and uncompromising love of life will be missed by everyone that knew her. Mia's passions included her life's work, cooking, eating, Hawaiian shirts, cowboy boots, sun worshipping , camping, sports cars, reading, oysters on the half shell, gardening and life in general, which she lived to the fullest!

Mia lived in Santa Cruz, CA from 1976 until 1996, at which time she moved to Marin County and resided and worked for City Electric in San Rafael. She had many friends in both Marin and Santa Cruz Counties. One place that she particularly loved was the Rod and Gun Club, where you could frequently find her sunning on the lawn. Big Sur, the ocean or poolside were also some of her favorite spots.

Mia sadly leaves behind her daughter Merry, grandson Damion, partner Jackie, best friends Thunder, Chris, Anne, Jill, Jenny, Dorinda and Noel. We will always miss Mia's playful loving spirit. A celebration of Mia's life will be held on Saturday May 22, 2010 at the Marin Rod and Gun Club 2675 East Francisco Blvd, San Rafael, CA from 2 to 4 PM. Please wear your finest Hawaiian shirt in her honor. If preferred, donations in Mia's name can be made to the SPCA in Santa Cruz or Marin County.

Mia, please rest in peace, knowing that you will always be remembered and loved.

Dear Mia
I spent several years looking for you and it was a shock to find out about your death--and that I was late in finding you by about 6 years. In many ways you were the first person I ever loved (and still do) and we did have a great many times together mostly good and sometimes sad. But you were always a great lady and always a pleasure to know and love--I still think of your often.
Also, it was a very great pleasure to see a recent image of you and absolutely wonderful to see the number of friends you had and learn a little of your history after 1971.
Mia, I never expected to have the opportunity to add something small, albeit after the fact, to your life and your passing, so really had nothing prepared...except to say I'm sure some day we will have the opportunity to talk and laugh about some of the things we did together when we were young. And know too, that you are loved still and that my prayer is for you to rest in peace and be content for the good you have done. It will live on.
