Ronald Hinton Obituary

Ronald James Hinton
March 5, 1935 – September 11, 2014
Resident of Scotts Valley
Ronald James Hinton passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 in Santa Cruz, CA from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.
Ron was born on March 5, 1935 in Turlock, CA to John Rudolph and Elsie Edith Hinton. He grew up in Hayward, CA where he graduated from Hayward High School. He then served in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii and Fort Ord, CA. After serving in the military he attended Barber School. He was the owner and Master Barber of Ron's Barber Shop located in Santa Clara, CA on Park Avenue for 50 years. Ron was very well known for his outstanding haircuts and had built a very large and loyal clientele.
Ron was a long time resident of Scotts Valley, CA. He found joy in taking trips throughout with his wife of 50 years, Christl. Together they enjoyed exploring new areas inside and outside of the country. He also enjoyed playing checkers with his grandchildren and family, gardening, bird watching and feeding the squirrels in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed studying the Bible.
Ron was a doting and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and dedicated barber. Ron is survived by his wife, Christl Hinton; daughter, Stephanie Espinola and son-in-law, Joseph Espinola; grandson, Joseph Espinola III and granddaughter, Marissa Espinola; 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 1 cousin. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Rudolph & Elsie Edith Hinton; sister, Valerie Gabrielson; brother, John Hinton; brother-in-law, Gordon Gabrielson; and sister-in-law, Janet Hinton.
Ron will be missed dearly. His family takes great comfort in knowing that he had a very strong faith and he is now at home with his Heavenly Father.
Ron loved children, especially his grandchildren. He always enjoyed seeing and hearing about all of the activities that they were involved in and he was very impressed with the accomplishments of today's youth. In honor of his memory and his grandchildren the family would like to request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Scotts Valley High School, ASB/Student Leadership Program, 555 Glenwood Dr., Scotts Valley CA 95066.
Ron will be laid to rest on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Memorial Park, 1927 Ocean Street Ext., Santa Cruz, CA.

Andrew Love

April 7, 2018

My name is Andrew. Ron cut my hair from the time I was a little boy all the way through til I was 18 years old. I loved going to see Ron. I loved visiting his shop. He was laid back always calm and polite yet a swift fantastic barber. I'm now a barber as well. I love the trade and have Ron to thank. I probably wouldn't have chosen this trade if I hadn't had such a great Barber all those years. Thanks Ron
