I offer my sincerest condolences to all family, friends, and students, of Steve Leger. I idolized the professional performances of Steve and the band Cascabel in the 1970's. We were spoiled by them. My sister, Janice, played with a local band then, named Atzlano, and occasionally the band members would gather for an improve jam session/ party. When Cascabel was based in Alb. during the late 70's Steve would come over and Janice would be his accompanist for his UNM studies. Steve and I crossed paths weekly on my way to string bass lessons and he coming from trumpet. I will never forget his infectious and comforting smile, and teasings to play some jazz improve in the hall of the classical instructors. I feel I was too spoiled to have known him and have been so thoroughly entertained by such a welcoming Idol. Admiration Forever

Quite often when I listened to the Friday Funk on KBAC, Lisa C, the host, would give Steve´s band and his music store a plug whenever he called in with a musical request. I met him a few times & I send my sincere condolences to his family & friends. May he rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Family and Loved Ones of Steve Leger. I was sad to hear of his passing into eternal life. Many memories of the joy his music, along with his compañeros, brought to so many, at home and nationally. Los Tropicales were a blessing after a long week of putting in our 40. Steve was muy buena gente and he will always be remembered and deeply missed by so many. God´s band keeps getting better and better. So much God-given musical talent from el Norte from such incredible hijos del Pueblo. Thank you Steve
