Jimmy Bowman Obituary

JIMMY E. BOWMAN
1931- 2009

Jimmy passed away at his home, Wednesday June 17th, 2009, after a valiant fight with Alzheimer's and COPD/ Emphysema. Jimmy was born to Myrtle and George W. Bowman in Kinta, Oklahoma July 6th, 1931. He arrived in California in the mid 1930's and settled in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is an Alumni of Hayward High School and San Jose State University. He is a veteran of the US ARMY during the Korean Conflict. In May of 1956 he married the love of his life, Joan A. Stocks. After about a 5-year time span, working for Western Electric, he moved his growing family to Santa Maria, CA in 1961. He worked as a Communications Technician for ITT/FEC at VAFB for 35 years before retiring in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Joan and his 6 children, Andrew Bowman, Emilie Fouts (Dan), Julie Fernandez (Frank), Mary Prishtina (Bashkim), Cecelia Bowman, and Jennifer Telloian. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, David, Michael & Christina Fouts, Phillip, Eric, & Allie Fernandez, Nicole Weland (Jason) & Rachael Pettus, Daniel Bowman (Rose), Colleen, Karen & Caitlin Riley, Evan, Isaac, Owen & Amelia Telloian and 5 precious great-grandchildren, Grace, Makenna & Dominic Bowman, Alec & Leah Weland. Being from the Bay Area he was an avid Raider's fan and also enjoyed a good game of golf. He was a member of St. Louis de Montfort parish. In his last years he enjoyed spending time gardening and reading to his grandchildren. His deep faith and gentle spirit was a source of strength for our entire family. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held Monday, June 22nd from 3:00-7:00 PM with a Rosary at 6 PM at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary, Santa Maria, CA. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Louis de Montfort Church, Tuesday, June 23 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Santa Maria Cemetery. A donation to The Alzheimer's Assoc. may be made in his name. Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary and Crematory.
