John Lucey Obituary

John F. Lucey ALBANY-John F. Lucey passed away on March 20, 2011 at the Albany Memorial Hospital. He was 93 years of age and a good friend to all who knew him. Jack, as he was known, spent all of his life in the Albany area. He was born to John F. Lucey, Sr. and Elizabeth Mullen Lucey on February 7, 1918. He graduated from Albany Boys Academy in 1935 and from Harvard University, cum laude, in 1939. He attended Albany Law School and passed the New York State Bar exam in 1942. In 1943 he accepted a position as Branch Manager with the First Trust Company of Albany (later Bankers Trust), from which he retired after 35 years. In his later years Jack practiced law on Central Ave., retiring in 2004. Jack was very involved in community affairs. He was a former Justice of the Peace in Colonie, a former school board member, former President of the Colonie-Albany Kiwanis club, a life member of the Elks, was twice President of the local Harvard Club and former treasurer of the Albany Academy alumni group. In 1943 Jack married the former Letitia McCarty; they had two children, daughter Mimi and son John. The family lived in Loudonville for over sixty years, summering at their camp on Saratoga Lake. Jack is predeceased by his wife Letitia, his son John III and his sister, Mary Chappel of Baltimore, MD. He is survived by his daughter Mimi and her two children, Cory and Nicole of Rochester; his brothers, Paul of Bennington, VT and Ramon of Fairport, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral 10:30 Thursday morning from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave., Colonie and at 11:30 at St. Pius X Church, Crumite Rd., Loudonville. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Saratgoa Springs. Friends may also call at the funeral home Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30, prior to the funeral. TO THE LUCEY FAMILY; PLEASE ACCEPT MY CONDOLENCE WITH YOUR LOSS. THE LAST TIME I SAW JOHN HE WAS WORKING IN THE BANK AT CENTRAL & CLINTON AVE. I FIRST MET JOHN BACK IN THE EARLY 60'S IN COLONIE. I CONSIDER HIM A VERY NICE PERSON AND FRIEND.
