Grace D. Merdian, 101, of Polo, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Polo Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Grace was born, October 15, 1922 in Walnut, Illinois, the daughter of William J. and Wilhemina (Cook) Tornow. On March 7, 1941 in Clinton Iowa, she was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" F. Merdian. He preceded her in December 27, 1978. Grace loved and spoiled her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed Christmas, decorating, baking and buying gifts for her family. Grace loved her chocolate, sneaking a piece anytime she could.
Survivors include daughters Sharon (Robin) Colgazier of Dixon, IL and Carol ("Buck") Walter of Naperville, IL; son Neil (Christa) Merdian of Polo, IL; daughter-in-laws Bev Merdian of Dixon, IL and Jayne Merdian of Sterling, IL; 12 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Bob; daughter Elinor Kay Merdian; sons Robert W. "Bob", Glen Richard "Rick" and Larry Merdian.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St. Polo. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Dixon immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
