STERLING – Nancy Kay Sulouff Davis went to the Lord Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at Morningside of Sterling, IL after a short illness.
Nancy was born September 17, 1940, in Sterling, the third daughter of Russell and Myrtle (Taylor) Sulouff. She married David Lee Davis on August 10, 1956, in Iowa. They were proud, life-long residents of Sterling. David and Nancy raised four children here in the community they loved: Brad, Randy, Sherrie and Cameron. Nancy was happily married to David for over 50 years, until his passing in December of 2009.
Surviving is her sister Betty Dettman of Sterling; her four children, Bradley Scott Davis and spouse, Sonia of Sterling, Randal Clark Davis and spouse, Susan of Sterling, Sherrie Lynn Ebersole and spouse, Stephen of Rock Falls, and Cameron Jay Davis of Chicago; three grandchildren, Kevin Anthony Davis and spouse, Stephanie of Washington, IL., Brionne Leanne Thome of Montgomery, TX, and Brooke Lauren Lerma and spouse, Mikhail of Durant, Iowa; one step-granddaughter Andrea Lea Lappin of Sterling; her treasured great grandkids include great granddaughters, Amilia Kay Marie Lerma, Rebekah Jo Lynn Lerma, Delilah LeAndra Lerma and Braylee Lynn Thome, grandsons Carson Allan Davis and Nolan Lee Davis and step-great grandsons Laken Noel Lappin and Levi Allen Lappin as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband David; her parents Myrtle and Russell; father/mother-in law Orval and Beulah Davis; a loving grandmother, Irma Taylor; a brother-in-law, Alvin Dettman; a sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Lester Mathew; brothers and sisters in-laws Paul and Carol Davis and Richard and Lola Davis; one step-granddaughter, Jessica Kay Diehl; one niece, Peggy Ellen Dettman; and a number of supportive and loving aunts and uncles.
Nancy raised four children and actively supported them through school and football, basketball, tennis, speech, softball, volleyball and student council. She was a faith-based Christian who was a loyal, life-long active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she held numerous leadership positions in various organizations.
A lover of plants and flowers, Nancy enjoyed growing her garden and flower beds, a gift she inherited from her grandmother Irma. She also enjoyed arranging flowers, bringing their beauty to life for all to enjoy.
Visitation will be held from 9:30am-11:00am, on Monday, September 9, 2024, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 703 3rd Ave, Sterling. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Burial will conclude at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, where Nancy will be laid to rest next to her husband David.
A memorial has been established to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling.
