I got to know AllanLander, when I was touring Australia with Don`s party as his understudy. He was a charming and funny man, and I shared a good friendship with him. I stumbled on this, his obituary, when I was, for some reason searching for his name on IMDB. Even though I thought I knew him well in fact I really knew very little about his life and everything that he´d done, he was really quite modest when talking about his acting career. He once gave me a book about mad King Ludwig of Bavaria. He was like that he would give you a little gifts and do little favours for you. I´m glad I discovered this obituary.As I write this message I don´t know where it will go because this is December 2023. Allan died in 2013 at age 77, I am now 78. God love you Allan. David Foster.

A radiant, sparkling man, who was a good friend to my mother, Meriel, who he met when they were acting together nearly 40 years ago in England. That's when I first met him. Then again a few other times in the intervening years. Not many encounters - but he made them feel meaningful. He made the effort to connect, to be honest. And it was always enormous fun to be in his company. Such vitality. Lovely man. I won't forget him.
