Ann Oglesby Obituary

Ann Leonard "Sister" Oglesby passed away from this life on Friday, October 26, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late Fred E. and Bessie Brown Leonard and sister to Joseph D. Leonard of St. Augustine, Florida; aunt to Joseph "Joey" Leonard and great aunt to her dear Charlye and her family.

Mrs. Oglesby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland E. Oglesby and her very special cousin, Elsie Schwarz, who was like a sister to her growing up. She also the sister to the late Harold "Rocky" (her brother) Leonard and other nephews are Sparky Leonard and niece, Kathy Williams and sister-in-law, Gloria A. Leonard and her extended family and chosen daughter, Donna Thomson.

Mrs. Oglesby was a vivacious fun loving and caring woman, a wonderful friend and neighbor and was beloved by all who knew her, especially, Reed and Briar Miller and Madison Rowland who called her Nannie Annie.

A devout Christian, Mrs. Oglesby was a devoted member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and was thankful for her devoted pastor Bro. Gary Johnson.

Mrs. Oglesby, in her earlier years was a very active member in the American Womens Business and other auxiliaries. After losing her father, a firefighter, at an early age, she began working to help her widowed mother and young brother, Rocky along with her older brother, Joe to help ends meet.

She started at Mangels Department Store from there she moved to Benton Rapid and then to work for George Schwarz as his accountant and office manager. The rest of her career was at Kaiser Agriculture Chemical Company where she retired after 17 1/2 years. There were fond memories working with her best friend, Margie Simomieux and (others whom she kept in touch with) along the way. Mrs. Oglesby passed into the arms of her Savior on October 26, 2018 at Hospice Savannah.

The family will gather and receive friends Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home; services will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
