Dear Minick Family,

Jake was one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. In years past, he would always send me salmon from Alaska that he and his brother had smoked on shore after catching them.

And then the stories he and I would tell each other about the bream fishing that he loved so much. We would replay all the blunders his UGA Bulldogs made on Saturday, but yet look forward to the next home game.

He was a true southern gentleman, and I know you will miss him dearly.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you.

To all of the family, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Jake. I remeber being 12 years old and he would pitch to all of us boys playing softball in Vinson Village 50 years ago.
He will be missed.

Dickie, Elaine, Ms. Hazel.....I feel your loss, and I want you to know that memories of Mr. Jake and the rest of you will be fond ones. Our experiences, as part of a whole, paint clearer pictures than any philosophical load folks seem to dump on you at times like these. Feel fortunate that your lives have been enriched by Mr. Jake, and take every lesson with you....every single one..they will come in handy.

Love,

Jake and my father Rupert Clifton grew up as good friends in the rural south. They both served their Country in WWII, returned from war, raise their families, and finally reunited when Jake moved back to Brooklet. I was blessed to be privy to many a reminiscence between these two old friends. They were quite the pair loved to fish and usually gave all the fish they caught away! (already cleaned!) When my Daddy was very sick and on Dylasis three times a week Jake often offered and took him for his sessions and never asked for anything in return. He came to see him ALOT just to sit around and talk. He made my Daddy's last bit of livin on this earth so much more happy and tollerable. Thats the kind of giving, considerate, compassionate, and fun loving person John Addison "Jake" Minick Jr. was and will always be remembered as by me. May God bless all of you family members during your time of grief. Elaine - I love you please keep in touch!
