P. Bollinger Obituary

P. Allan "Al" Bollinger - SAVANNAH - Paul Allan Bollinger, 73, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Anne Schab Bollinger, died Sunday evening, June 29, 2008, after a brief illness. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 3, 1934, he was a son of the late Otto Bollinger and Susan Hogan Bollinger. Mr. Bollinger graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1956 where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Al attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina and, in 1975, completed The Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. Mr. Bollinger was President of Health Care Management with Crawford and Company in Atlanta, Georgia. He retired in 1996 after a distinguished career of 38 years. After retiring, Al and his wife Anne moved to The Landings on Skidaway Island, where he pursued his hobbies of golf and boating. Mr. Bollinger was preceded in death by his son, Scott Blair Bollinger. Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Anne Schab Bollinger of Savannah, Georgia; a daughter, Allison Bollinger Szczukowski and her husband, Myron, of Oxford, Maryland; a daughter in-law, Ruth Bollinger of McLean, Virginia; two sisters, Elaine Hanson of Fairhope, Alabama, and Jean Heiden of Santa Clara, California; a sister in-law, Helen Schab London and her husband, Jim, of Athens, Georgia; brothers in-law, Karl Schab and his wife, Debbie, of Athens, Georgia, Dan Schab of Athens, Georgia; his father in-law, Fred Schab of Athens, Georgia; five grandsons, Max, Alex, and Zack Szczukowski, and Matt and Will Bollinger, and several nieces. A memorial service in celebration of Al's life will be held at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon, July 11, 2008, at Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church, 50 Diamond Causeway, Savannah Georgia. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice Savannah - Post Office Box 13190, Savannah, Georgia 31416-0190 or English Springer Rescue America - 14620 San Pablo Drive North, Jacksonville, Florida 32224. I first met Al in October 1963. He was my first Supervisor in Norfolk, VA. From that time forward, I had the utmost respect for Al as he had a direct impact on my life.

I considered Al a friend and will always remember him.

Al was the first "big boss" I had when starting with Crawford in 1967. Not only was he very kind to me as an employee but I considered him a great friend for all these years.
