Rebecca Peterson Obituary

Atlanta - Mrs. Rebecca Godwin Peterson, age 81, formerly of Ailey died May 28, 2004 at Hospice Atlanta. Mrs. Peterson was born in Sylvester, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Clair Alford Godwin and Winifred Lee Brim. She was very active in the Ailey community and was a past member of the Board of Trustees of Epworth by the Sea and a member of the City Council of Ailey, the Ailey Garden Club, and was the choir director and a Sunday School teacher at Ailey United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the General Montgomery Chapter of the daughters of the American Colonists and a member of the daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Daniel Peterson. Mrs. Peterson is survived by her daughter, Claire Peterson Schwall and her husband, Emory Ashford Schall, Jr.; two grandchildren, Emory Ashford Schwall, III and Malcolm Peterson Schwall all of Atlanta; one sister, Marjory Bangs and one brother, Clair Godwin Jr. Funeral service for Mrs. Rebecca Godwin Peterson will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ailey United Methodist Church with Reverend David Haygood officiating. Interment will follow in Peterson Cemetery in Ailey. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wesleyan College, the Methodist children's Home or to Epworth by the Sea.
