Steve taught me at Sunday School at First Presbyterian of Savannah. Having a retired History professor teach was a unique gift and pleasure. Needless to say he always came extremely well prepared to each class. He was a great man in many ways. I will treasure his memory.

Steve was my office mate and good friend at LaGrange College . He is a very big part of my foundational memory as an historian and teacher. We remained in touch, and saw each other in the years following. In the last year or so I hoped we could meet again, in Atlanta. he told me it was impossible for him. This is July 16 and I just saw the obituary. He was a good man and friend. Clio the Muse of History is well pleased. God bless him.
