Richard Greiner

January 27, 1930 - August 22, 2025

Richard "Dick" Greiner Sr., age 95, of Hayward, WI, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Aspen Acres Assisted Living.

Dick was born on January 27, 1930, to parents, Edward and Mary Greiner. Dick grew up in Sawyer County and after graduating high school he joined the US Air Force during the Korean War. He met his wife, Blanche, when he was stationed in Rome, NY. After his time in the military, the couple moved to the Birchwood, WI area and Dick began farming. Dick moved to Kenosha, WI for a short while and worked for American Motors. In 1966 Dick moved back to the Northwoods where he purchased, ran, and totally rebuilt the Highlands Resort on Lac Courte Oreilles. Dick also owned his own construction company and was a fishing guide.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to travel, fish, and hunt.

Dick is survived by his children, Ruth (Dale) Jorgensen and Richard "Rick" (Betsy) Greiner Jr.; brother, Bernard Greiner; grandchildren, Laura (Terry) Bruce, Nelson (Stacie) Ahrenkiel, Kristen Thoreson; great granddaughters, Heidi, Holly, and Heather Ahrenkiel; great-great granddaughter, Bella Ahrenkiel; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Blanche, and siblings, Ervin, Arthur, Pete, Edward, Harlyn, and Carol.

There will be no services at this time.
