Donna M. Gavaletz, 72, of Seiders Hill, North Manheim Township, passed away on Friday at home surrounded by her family.
Born on August 22, 1949, in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Michael A. Gretsky, Sr. and the late Mary T. Lucas Gretsky. She was a 1967 graduate of Minersville Area High School, and a graduate of Empire Beauty School.
She was a caseworker for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare for 32 years before retiring in 2007. She continued her friendship with retired co-workers during their monthly breakfast get-togethers. She was especially fond of the day trips she took with her son and daughter as well as her many trips to Florida over the years. Her greatest joy was her family's recent addition of her granddaughter, Hayden Stephens.
She was a member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael A. Gretsky, Jr., in 2005.
In addition to her granddaughter, Donna is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joseph M. Gavaletz; two children, Joel M. Gavaletz (fiancée, Jen Edwards), North Manheim Township, and Jenna M. Gavaletz (fiancé, David Stephens), Conshohocken.
