Robert Kocher Obituary

Retired Sgt. Robert J. Kocher, 78, of Palo Alto, Pottsville, passed away Friday at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born in Philadelphia, April 25, 1939, he was a son of Charles Kocher and Mary Mills.

He was a 1958 graduate of Saint Clair High School. He had an associate degree from Columbia College, Mo.

Robert enlisted in the Army and Air Force. He retired from the military with 22 years of service.

He served his country proudly and with honor and received an honorable discharge in November of 1985.

In May of 1986, he started work with the U.S. Postal Service and after 21 1/2 years retired in November 2007. Robert was a good husband, father and grandfather.

Robert was married to Sa Hong Kocher for 44 years. They raised two children, a daughter, Elizabeth Bentz, Reading, and a son, Brian Kocher, Hatfield.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Faith and Brynna Bentz, Reading, and a stepson, David McKenzie and his wife, Belinda, Alabama.

A religious service will be held at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon, with Monsignor William Glosser officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901. Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, Port Carbon, is in charge of arrangements.
